Bob DeMarco, purveyor of the popular Alzheimer's Reading Room website and caregiver to his mother Dotty, posted some reflections on his experience of speaking at this week's Seeing Alzheimer's Differently symposium at PACE University in New York. His article is posted here.
It's always interesting to read and hear about other people's reactions to the Seeing Alzheimer's Differently photo exhibit and to Love, Loss, and Laughter; there were some thought-provoking reactions in this week's NY Times Well Blog article about the exhibit for example. But I think Bob's impression upon seeing the exhibit for the first time were bang on: "More there...more than most can imagine."
Thank you Bob for being such a vital part of the symposium and for joining me on, as you say, the two very "...important missions: Destroying the myth that Alzheimer's is an automatic death sentence, and destroying the stigma that is often attached to Alzheimer's." I'm looking forward to your future blog postings about the symposium and the exhibit!
